I'm not sure about the yardage, since it isn't marked. I need to weigh it for weight, and then try to find a similar weight yarn with known yardage and do the math.
The weight seems like fingering weight. I was got about 5 stitches and 6 rows per inch on size 3 needles - I think I would recommend a size 2 for socks or anything tightly knit.
